Low Voltage Dimmers

Low Voltage lights have become very popular. However, in order to be properly dimmed, these must have a special low voltage dimmer. Ask Wesworth to properly size and select a Lutron(R) dimmer for these applications.

Why a special dimmer? Today's dimmers lower the lighting level by switching power on & off 120 times a second! They do this switch through a resistive mechanism which may occasionally result in an unbalanced sine wave of electricity. While not normally bad, this unbalanced sine wave can destroy the transformers that feed the low voltage lighting. Therefore a more precise dimmer that uses an inductive mechanism is required to insure that the transformer gets balanced power for effective dimming.
